Ranking #10 – Jordynne Grace
Last Week – N/A
Okay, this one is cheating a little bit as, on paper, Grace did not have a great week. She made the save for Trinity and Deonna Purrazzo against Jai Vidal, Gisele Shaw and Savannah Evans but the numbers were too much for her and she ended the night face down on the mat.
That being said, this could be the last time Grace can appear on our rankings for a while and she has been an impressive force within the Knockouts division (and beyond) for some time. If this is her exit then Shaw and Co. are continuing to appear as legitimate threats due to calibre of talent that Grace is.
Ranking #9 – Athena
Last Week – N/A
Another week goes by of Athena proving that she really is the #ForeverChamp.
I’ve said it before but it continues to be true, Athena has been one of the main attractions since Ring of Honor has returned and they truly present her as the star that she is.
Her successful defence of her title was against Keira Hogan who matched Athena’s aggressiveness throughout and after the match when the two had to be separated as the show came off the air.
Ranking #8 – Blair Davenport
Last Week – N/A
For weeks, the NXT car park and beyond has been stalked by a mystery assailant who has taken out the likes of Nikkita Lyons, Wendy Choo, Sol Ruca and has also attacked Dani Palmer and Roxanne Perez.
Palmer hung around after the Tiffany celebration to be ready to confront the stranger, wanting to avenge her best friend Ruca. A video package played and the assailant would appear in the ring, once again striking Palmer and revealing herself to be none other than Blair Davenport.
A mainstay of NXT UK, she has not been seen since the title unification match to also feature Meiko Satomura and Mandy Rose. Here’s hoping we hear from Davenport for an explanation on her actions.
Ranking #7 – Kris Statlander
Last Week – 3
The new TBS Champion wasted little time before putting her title on the line on this week’s Dynamite.
In a fun match that could have done with a little more time given the talent of both women, Statlander would put away Nyla Rose with a 450 splash to keep the title and deliver a reminder to anyone watching that she is well and truly back.
Ranking #6 – Willow Nightingale
Last Week – 6
Rounding out our successful title defenses this week is Willow Nightingale.
Both she and her challenger have been on quite the rolll with Sakura having enjoyed a lengthy win streak on Dark, which may have played a part in getting this title match.
The match continues Nightingale’s momentum as she carries her Strong Women’s Championship with pride.
Ranking #5 – Britt Baker
Last Week – N/A
It’s hard to believe that Britt Baker and Saraya have been feuding since Saraya entered AEW and even harder to believe that their roles would have reversed so much.
In the main event of Dynamite, Baker would team with Adam Cole against Saraya and Chris Jericho in a match that had its messier moments but still carried the heat of the feud that has developed between both pairs.
Cole would get the win for his team and celebrate with Baker.
Ranking #4 – Gigi Dolin
Last Week – N/A
The match to open NXT this week was a highly personal cage match between rivals Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne.
The two took full advantage of the weapons around the cage and it was said by commentary that the two agreed that only a pinfall or submission would bring victory, no escaping.
The end came when Dolin would choke slam Jayne from the top of the cage through a table lying in wait.
Ranking #3 – Asuka
Last Week – 1
Proving once again that language is no barrier to her charisma and ability to entertain a crowd, the new RAW Women’s Champion was a guest on Grayson Waller’s talk show as she amused herself with the thought of anyone cashing in the Money in the Bank contract on her.
Asuka would begin to laugh as blue mist leaked from her mouth, a not so subtle reminder of how she bested the EST before IYO SKY would lead a series of interruptions and challenges.
Sliding out of the ring before things could break down. Asuka was then struck by Bianca Belair and the two would brawl heading in to commercial.
Ranking #2 – Trish Stratus and Zoey Stark
Last Week – 4 (Trish Stratus) and 11 (Zoey Stark)
The new tandem that is Stratus and Stark continue to make Becky Lynch‘s life a living hell but The Man continues to refuse to bow down and say ‘Thank you Trish’.
Lynch would interrupt the pair and swiftly take out Stark on the entrance way before launching herself at Stratus who, heels and all, would fight back until Stark would recover and Lynch fell to the numbers.
In an added insult to injury, the pair would prop Lynch up with a Thank You Trish shirt across her.
Ranking #1 – Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler
Last Week – N/A
We have NEW WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions again after a brief vacating of the belts. Rousey and Baszler would outlast three other teams to secure the belts after Shotzi found herself trapped in the armbar from Rousey.
While this result was perhaps very predictable, what happens next is not and we can only hope that the titles will continue to be presented on television and with a tag teams such as The Unholy Union, The KCs and Green/Deville, it’s a very nice start to a decent division.
