NXT TakeOver 31 is here and it will kick off a brand new era of NXT. The show will be the show to first take place at the Capitol Wrestling Center.
Formerly known as the Performance Center, the Capitol Wrestling Center will be unveiled tonight and NXT TakeOver 31.
There is only one women’s match on the show but it promises to be an incredible match.
Io Shirai defends the NXT Women’s Championship against “The Poisoned Pixie” Candice LeRae.
The match came about when LeRae won the number one contender battle royal on the Sep, 23 episode of NXT.
Shirai and LeRae are no strangers to each other. Once best friends they are now bitter enemies.
In 2019 Shirai was unsuccessful in her quest for the NXT Women’s Championship on three separate occasions. Her third loss was the final straw and she snapped and turned heel by destroying her friend, LeRae. This set up a match between the two at NXT TakeOver: Toronto.
The match was a thrilling affair and one of the best women’s matches NXT has ever seen.
This time around the tables have turned with Shirai is the face and LeRae the heel but the stakes are higher.
Shirai is coming off a string of brilliant performances against Tegan Nox, Dakota Kai, Shotzi Blackheart and shows no sign of letting up.
LeRae and Gargano have been on a journey to become the power couple of the brand and rule NXT together as champions. At they end this week’s NXT the stood proud wearing the titles of their fallen opponents. Will they fulfill their vow?
Whatever the outcome, this match has the potential to be one of the best matches in NXT history.
