On this week’s Raw, Doudrop earned a championship opportunity for the Raw Women’s Championship at the Royal Rumble. She battled Liv Morgan and Bianca Belair in a Triple Threat main event. Doudrop demanded to be in the title picture as she was tired of seeing Morgan and Belair get opportunity after opportunity over her.
Prior to the match, the Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch cut a promo before joining commentary. Lynch has defeated both Morgan and Belair on several occasions and is very familiar with them. Doudrop is the wild card that Big Time Becks has seemed to be interested in.
With this match being a Triple Threat and having no disqualification, Lynch made sure she used that to help her determine who she was going to face at the Royal Rumble. Belair was mere seconds away from heading to the Royal Rumble for the title after hitting a KOD on Morgan. Lynch entered the ring and broke up the pin.
Belair chased Lynch around the ring before tossing the EST over the announce table. While this was happening, Doudrop took advantage and flattened Morgan getting a three count and the victory.
Post-match, Lynch went to shake the hand of her future challenger but slapped her instead. She tried to hit the Manhandle slam but Doudrop powered her out of the ring.
Nikki A.S.H. and Rhea Ripley are no more.
The team made their way to the ring to discuss their partnership, or at least that is what Rhea wanted. Nikki wanted to challenge Carmella and Queen Zelina once again for the tag titles, but Ripley wasn’t feeling it. The two started to argue and Nikki said she was the better of the two in the ring.
Nikki attempted to convince Ripley that they each bring the best out of each other. The Nightmare didn’t deny their success as a team in the past but she felt it was time for them to go their separate ways but still wanted to remain friends. Nikki wanted Ripley to confirm that she believes in her and she agreed that she always has and always will. Nikki became emotional and the two embraced. Seconds later, Ripley attempted to exchange a sign of friendship between the two, but Nikki then attacked her now former tag team partner.
As Nikki left Ripley in the ring she stated that “Almost Superheros don’t need any friends.”
Beth Phoenix and Edge are set to do battle with Maryse and The Miz at the Royal Rumble at the end of the month.
The It couple vs. The Grit couple. The thing is, Maryse seems to want nothing to do with this match.
Phoenix joined her husband in a Cutting Edge segment. A video package was shown of Beth highlighting her career and why she earned her Hall of Fame status. The Miz and Maryse of course had to interrupt and Miz had a video package of his own made for Maryse to highlight her career.
It was pointed out by Phoenix that ever since she has reappeared on Raw, Maryse has been as quiet as a mouse and has wanted nothing to do with her or Edge. Prior to the Glamazon showing up, Maryse had no problem interfering in the feud between Edge and Miz.
The Miz tried to get his wife to tell Beth how she is going to beat her at the Royal Rumble and make her wish she had stayed retired. Unbeknownst to Miz, Maryse walked away to the back as he was still talking leaving him high and dry.
A 24/7 Title segment took place as the champ Dana Brooke was backstage with Reggie. Reggie had brought her a cheesesteak but was concerned about how the environment was and knew something was wrong. R-Truth appeared and had Akira Tozawa in a trash can. As Dana and Reggie fight to get away from them, the cheesesteaks become weapons and it ends up being thrown at Tamina who was off-screen.
Alexa Bliss made her return back to Raw. As stated last week, she would be starting her journey back to the red brand. She is seen in a therapy session where the therapist says that he knows Bliss has been through a lot of trauma lately and it is time for her to heal. He shows her a clip of Lilly being destroyed by Charlotte from Extreme Rules. The last time we saw Bliss on screen.
He asks her how seeing this makes her feel. She says thirsty as she pours a glass of water but doesn’t stop when the glass is full and empties the pitcher. Bliss grabs his tie and asks him how it makes HIM feel. She starts to destroy the office and as the therapist runs off, she says she will see him next week as she screams to end the segment.
