Shayna Baszler vs. Sonya Deville
This match has the potential to be great if it is built correctly. On paper, just the two facing each other may not be enough. The story itself is what can get this match over. Both competitors have a history of mixed martial arts (MMA) which creates the starting point. Shayna Baszler has more experience based primarily on the age difference between the two.
Sonya Deville could play the role of idolizing Baszler for what she has done both in MMA as well as NXT. This obsession from Deville for Baszler could for once see the Queen of Spades as the babyface of the bout. Baszler is used to having the upper hand with her competition. Her strength is normally overpowering when competing against smaller competitors such as Kairi Sane. Deville is more equal in size and as a result, wouldn’t have to just rely on quickness.
If they took the storyline to a Mickie James type of obsession with Trish Stratus that could spark a lot of interest. That time in James’ career helped her heel persona which could do the same for Deville. If Baszler could come out of this as the babyface, this could create a bigger fanbase for her. She would be going against her norm. Regardless, the two trading punches in the middle of the ring would be a match that some would like to see.
