Ember Moon will need to undergo elbow surgery

As noted on last night’s episode of Raw, Dana Brooke replaced Ember Moon as Natalya’s partner in the qualifying match for a chance to compete in the Women’s Tag Team Title Match at Elimination Chamber. WWE made an official announcement after Raw with a backstage interview for WWE.com.

In the exclusive, Moon confirmed she injured her elbow and will need immediate surgery. The specific diagnosis is unclear, but she seems to imply this won’t be a quick recovery. Surgery is never a good sign, but without knowing the full extent of the injury, it’s hard to tell what this could mean.

Depending on the severity of the injury, her timetable for rehab could keep her out of action until some time this summer. It’s safe to assume at the very least that she will miss WrestleMania.

It’s never good to see anyone go down with an injury, but it’s especially tragic when it happens to someone on the cusp of a breakaway year. Ember just seemed like she needed the right spark and she’d be off to the races. Fans have been waiting for something to invest in with Ember since she came to Raw from NXT.

The Shenom entered the Women’s Royal Rumble as entrant no. 6, lasting 52 minutes and 32 seconds before getting eliminated; the second longest time in this year’s match. It’s unclear if she injured her elbow in the match or aggravated an existing injury. Notably, her right arm was heavily taped on Sunday.

With that said, lasting as long as Natalya – who spent the longest time in the Women’s Rumble – and Charlotte is still quite a milestone, capped off by a cool spot where she used her feet to hang on to the bottom rope and avoid elimination. Hopefully her surgery goes well and we wish her a swift recovery.
