Japanese wrestling legend Emi Sakura is returning to AEW. The creator of Choko Pro announced on Twitter that is coming to stateside on a one-way ticket.
The announcement indicates that Sakura will re-join the AEW full time while putting the women’s division and Britt Baker on notice.
Here’s what Sakura posted;
“I decided to go to America with a one-way ticket. Please look forward to what happens to #ChocoPro from now on. We are, ChocoPro & we like a challenge. Now #AEW Women Division, you better be ready, Emi Sakura’s looking at the top & @RealBrittBaker looks very interesting.”
Sakura last appeared for the promotion earlier this year for the Japanese bracket of the AEW Women’s World Championship Eliminator Tournament.
She defeated VENY in the first round before losing to Yuka Sakazaki in the semi-finals of the tournament.
The twenty-six-year veteran signed for AEW in 2019 and wrestled on their first official pay-per-view Double or Nothing. She teamed with Aja Kong and Sakazaki to face Hikaru Shida, Riho, and Ryo Mizunami in a great match. A few months later she would challenge her protege Riho for the AEW women’s title at Full Gear.
Sakura is another excellent addition to the AEW women’s division both on and off the screen. Her experience and knowledge are invaluable for the promotion and its wrestlers.
