On January 7, Emi Sakura wrestled her final match for the joshi promotion Ice Ribbon.
Citing ‘personal reasons’ as her choice for leaving, Sakura went out with a bang by wrestling Tsukushi – her most recent tag partner – in a fifteen minute match in Sendai, Japan. Tsukushi picked up the victory.
Classed as the ‘matron of Ice Ribbon’, Sakura – whom founded the company in 2006 – is a previous two-time ICEx60 Champion and co-held the International Ribbon Tag Team Championships a whopping five times (each time with a different partner – Kaori Yoneyama, Nanae Takahashi, Ray, Makoto, and Tsukushi).
She made her professional wrestling debut in August 1996 and has wrestled for a plethora of different promotions, including IWA Japan, FMW, JWP, NEO, AJW and more.
We here at Diva Dirt thank Emi for her contributions to Ice Ribbon over the years, and wish her the best in whatever she chooses to do in the future!
