Arguably the top independent female wrestler of 2010,
Mercedes Martinez had quite the year. Continuing her WSU World Championship reign, working SHIMMER and NCW Femmes Fatales, as well as debuting for River City Wrestling in Texas, Mercedes was everywhere. Her incredible year was capped by being crowned #3 on the PWI Female 50 and being honored by Pro Wrestling Illustrated last November live on iPPV.
Now in 2011, she’s set to kick off her wrestling year with a bang this Saturday, facing Angel Orsini in a ‘Winner Take All’ ladder match on iPPV for the WSU World and All Guts, No Glory Championships.
We catch up with Mercedes to look back at her noteworthy 2010 and her plans for 2011. Mercedes also clarifies a report here on Diva Dirt last year about her heading to AAA in Mexico, and whether she’s at all interested in WWE Tough Enough.
