Fastlane Predictions: Nikki Bella vs. Paige for the Divas Championship

Tonight at Fastlane, Nikki Bella defends the Divas Title against Paige. Will Paige be able to overcome her numbers disadvantage? The Diva Dirt team weighs in:

Adrian: I would love for this match to get the time and booking it deserves. Paige vs Nikki is probably the best one-on-one combination in the main roster Divas division right now and if they get ten or fifteen minutes they could end up sneaking the match of the night here. I’m probably being far too optimistic, but look at the rest of the card for heaven’s sake. It’s a sorry mess, and if we have to sit through a near-carbon copy of the Survivor Series main event there’s no reason these two shouldn’t get the chance to tear it up for a reasonable amount of time. I don’t really mind who wins, but I can see it being Nikki Bella. I’d love it to be clean, but I’m not holding my breath. I just hope they get to have the match they deserve to have.

Bobby: I feel like this feud has just been the same thing done twice every week, so I don’t really feel the need to delve into it. I’ll say Nikki Bella retains and it leads to AJ Lee and Paige vs. the Bellas in a regular standard tag at Mania.

Chris: Well, I would love to say I’m excited for this but… then I would be lying. WWE proves once again that they don’t give a crap about putting any effort into a main roster PPV Divas match. Hell, I’ve seen Christina Aguilera concerts with better build-up than this match. And yes kids, she is still a thing. Although I enjoy the work of both Paige and Nikki Bella, I’m not sure if this could be saved from a storyline perspective if Spielberg himself did a run in while Celine Dion was playing in the background. This whole feud has fourfiveseconds to nowhere. Nikki Bella wins.

Erin: Like the rest of us, I haven’t been too excited by this storyline. It bears all the hallmarks of a filler match, a bump in the road towards WrestleMania. Given that the WWE hasn’t invested much time (or creativity) in this feud, I’m absolutely sure that the Divas Title is staying put. Nikki Bella wins tonight, but Paige puts up a good enough fight that she stays in the title picture for Mania.

Jack: My head says Nikki Bella yet my heart says Paige. My head is going to prevail this time. I just don’t see Nikki dropping it yet. With her reign being so lackluster though, it wouldn’t surprise me if Paige won. However, it would surprise me more that Paige would be a 3x Divas Champion within one year of joining the main roster. As much as I’d love Paige to make history yet again, I’m going with Nikki Bella.

Josue: There isn’t too much excitement for me going into this match. For the most part, this feud has just felt very lather, rinse and repeat in terms of build up. Still, Paige’s transition as a face through the Bellas’ mean girl tactics have given us a chance to see an upright babyface Diva step up to Nikki for her Divas title; something I’ve always felt was missing for some time since Nikki became champion. Nikki has been short on such candidates during her reign and there’s now a chance to some spark some fire to help lift momentum in this title defense and since there’s still no reason for Nikki lose the title just yet, I say Nikki Bella will retain at Fast Lane.

BREAKDOWN: 6 for Nikki, 0 for Paige.

Who do you agree with? Who is just dead wrong?
