During tonight’s episode of NXT, it was announced that there would be a fatal four-way for the NXT Women’s Championship at NXT TakeOver: New York.
Scheduled for tonight’s card, Io Shirai and Bianca Belair faced each other in a no. 1 contender’s match to determine who would face champion Shayna Baszler for her title.
During the match, Baszler sat at commentary. After awhile, though, Baszler couldn’t accept that any of the NXT women’s division were good enough to come after her belt.
The Queen of Spades entered the ring, and took down Shirai and Belair with her Kirifuda Clutch. Kairi Sane entered the ring to come to the aid of her best friend, but Baszler caught her in the submission hold, as well.
In a backstage interview with Cathy Kelley, Baszler expressed that she was certain no one was ready to take her title away from her. Kelley stated that because of Baszler’s actions in the ring, NXT General Manager William Regal has decided that she would fight all three of the women she attacked, making the title match a fatal four-way.
Baszler will defend her NXT Women’s Championship against Belair, Shirai and Sane at NXT TakeOver: New York, set to air Friday, April 5, live on the WWE Network from the Barclays Center, in Brooklyn.
