This weekend, ROH had the final two quarter-final matches of the ROH Women’s Title Tournament. A tournament to crown a new ROH Women’s World Champion after the prior championship was deactivated at the end of 2019.
ROH TV featured the two matches which first saw Max the Impaler taking on Angelina Love. Love, a former Women of Honor Champion herself, received a bye in the first round, so this was the first time she had to compete in this tournament.
Match Time: 5:53 via Disqualification
The match was mostly on the outside of the ring as Max sought out to destroy Angelina. Once in the ring, Max continued their dominance although Angelina did what she could to fight off the power of her opponent. The match ended in a disqualification favoring Love when Max wouldn’t let up on a sleeper hold that was tied up in the ropes. The referee gave them to the count of five to break and Max wouldn’t budge. Max’s manager, Amy Rose seemed unphased that her client disqualified themselves and seemed pleased.
Love moves on to the final four to face Rok-C in the semi-finals.
Match Time: 13:50 via Pinfall
The second bout had Allysin Kay taking on Trish Adora. Two women who could honestly win the whole thing went toe-to-toe. It was a Lariat vs. Lariat affair.
Moments leading up to the finish, Kay went for a discus lariat but Adora ducked under it. Adora followed up with an enziguri which had Kay stunned but just for a moment. Kay then with the elbows on the back of the head. AK hoists Adora up who counters and capitalizes with the Lariat Tubman to get the pin and the win.
Adora moves on to the final four to face Miranda Alize in the semi-finals.
Just two more matches before we reach the finals which will take place on Sept. 12 at Death before Dishonor.
