The Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic is underway and two teams advanced during this week’s NXT 2.0 after the first round match-ups. The two teams who will face each other in one of the semi-final matches are Io Shirai & Kay Lee Ray and Kacy Catanzaro & Kayden Carter.
With Toxic Attraction looking on from their lounge set up, Shirai and Ray advanced after they took out the makeshift team of Amari Miller and Lash Legend. Both teams were new to each other but the veteran status of Shirai and Ray outshined Miller and Legend and took most of the offense. After a superkick followed up by a KLR bomb, Shirai hit her moonsault to pin Legend.
While Toxic Attraction still looks on, the second match had Kacy Catanzaro & Kayden Carter stop the dreams of the newcomer to the Diamond Mine, Tatum Paxley, along with Ivy Nile from making it past the first round. The final moments of the match had Paxley get a near fall but Nile was quickly sent out of the ring as she went for Catanzaro. This isolated Paxley who took the fall following a neckbreaker from Carter and the 450 from Catanzaro. Catanzaro got the pin for the team to advance.
The first semi-final match is set as Catanzaro/Carter vs. Shirai/Ray.
Next week, the other side of the brackets will get their first-round matches. There were some backstage and pretaped moments between the next teams that can be seen below.

Indi Hartwell & Persia Pirotta vs. Wendy Choo & Dakota Kai
Cora Jade & Raquel Gonzalez vs. Yulisa Leon & Valentina Feroz
Nikkita Lyons also made her official debut on NXT 2.0 this week. She had two previous appearances on 205 Live. She faced Kayla Inlay and came out with the victory.
