First Team Advances To Tag Team Championship Tourney Finals

The first team to advance to the finals of the Women’s Tag Team Championship Tournament has been confirmed. Dakota Kai & IYO SKY defeated Asuka & Alexa Bliss to solidify their spot and get one step closer to becoming new champions.

Asuka and Bliss would have the upper hand early in the match but throughout the bout would be equally matched. This would also be the first time Asuka and IYO SKY would interact with each other on television since SKY was called up to the main roster.

Bliss and Asuka wouldn’t be counted out to get the win as they worked well together with a side Russian leg sweep/neck breaker combo. Asuka locked on a submission on Kai, but Sky made the save. Bliss and Asuka tried to stay within moments of a win when Bliss went for Twisted Bliss, but Kai got her knees up.

The ending moment of the match came when Kai missed a boot in the corner. A blind tag happened making SKY legal unbeknownst to Asuka. The Empress of Tomorrow would lock in the Asuka Locke with Kai tapping out – but Kai isn’t the legal woman. SKY would come from behind and stack up Asuka pinning her for the win.

SKY and Kai will face the winners of the semi-finals match on SmackDown. Due to an injury to Gigi Dolin, Toxic Attraction is no longer in the SmackDown semi-finals. A “second chance” Fatal 4-Way from the first eliminated teams of the tournament will take place. The winner will then face Raquel Rodriguez and Aliyah. Whoever comes out with the victory between those two teams will face SKY and Kai in the finals.
