5. Alexa Bliss vs. Sasha Banks – SummerSlam 2017
Alexa Bliss had taken the women’s division by storm since her debut on SmackDown in 2016. Bliss quickly climbed to the top on the roster when she defeated Becky Lynch at TLC to capture the SmackDown Women’s Championship. When Bliss was drafted to the red brand she wasted little time in taking over the RAW division too. Bliss would instantly feud with then Women’s Champion, Bayley and defeat her for the belt at Payback.
Bliss would go on to feud with Sasha Banks and the to would have a strong and highly entertaining match at Great Balls of Fire, which Banks would win via count-out. After the match, Banks would savagely attack Bliss to continue the feud and set up their match at SummerSlam.
What made this match even more interesting was the speculated “heat” between the two competitors in real-life. Stemming from their time NXT, it has long been rumoured that Bliss and Banks don’t get along and there has definitely a few eyebrow-raising transactions between the two, and their title match at SummerSlam was no different.
A highly-charged and intense affair saw Bliss and Banks go to war. The two beat each other up mercilessly but Banks would manage to lock in the Banks Statement for the submission victory and to become the Raw Women’s Champion for the fourth time.
