Five Women Who May Answer Ronda Rousey’s Open Challenge

Ronda Rousey is in her second reign as SmackDown Women’s Champion after defeating Liv Morgan at Extreme Rules earlier this month. Last week, she was questioned backstage by Kayla Braxton if she would continue the tradition of holding open challenges as she has done previously. An angered Rousey says she will decide when she will have the open challenges and not when the fans feel that she should.

On tonight’s SmackDown, Rousey will indeed issue an open challenge, but the question is, who will answer?

Below are five women who may just challenge the SmackDown Women’s Champion tonight.

Liv Morgan

Morgan challenging the champion to get the title back would be a no brainer. Especially since she has been showing this different side of her since she lost to Rousey just a few weeks ago. Although the back and forth with the title wouldn’t seem the most practical, it would establish Morgan more if she won the title back this quick.

Asuka

Asuka being an option is partly because a running joke of Asuka always answering open challenges, but this time it could be plausible. With individuals being moved to different brands recently, or even just showing up, this could be a way to get Asuka back into that title picture. Rousey also discussed recently how she wanted to bring Asuka to SmackDown and compete with her. This would be the perfect time for that to happen.

Shayna Baszler

It is past time for Shayna to be at the top of the division again. She showed signs of it when she faced then-champion Liv Morgan at Clash at the Castle, but since her loss she has kind of disappeared. Only sighting since being wishing Rousey luck at Extreme Rules. However, a vengeful Baszler who would serve in the unique babyface role here may be a way to start a feud between the two friends. Baszler being upset she didn’t get a rematch and then her best friend swooping in to win the title would cause some friction.

Mia Yim

If there were to be a return to the company here, Mia Yim is the biggest option here. She has since wrapped up her time with IMPACT and rumor is she is heading back to WWE. It would serve as a fresh match up as well as Yim and Rousey have never shared the ring while providing an important return for her.

Charlotte Flair

Charlotte Flair may be one of the most obvious choices her. She has been out since Rousey defeated her for the SmackDown Women’s Championship back in May at WrestleMania Backlash. Her returning here would obviously be for her to come back for some revenge; however, this would book her in a baby face role as well.
