Five women who would benefit from a Royal Rumble victory

Sonya Deville

Sonya Deville is the biggest wildcard on this list. She is only one of two in this ranking that has never been a champion in WWE. Deville debuted on the main roster with her tag team partner Mandy Rose. She debuted in November of 2017 on the Raw brand, with their leader Paige, as members of Absolution. Earlier this year, Absolution was disbanded due to Paige’s retirement, however Deville and Rose have stayed together.

From her time this year on both rosters, she has participated in numerous firsts in WWE. She was in the following matches: Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber, and the WrestleMania Battle Royal. With her past in mixed martial arts (MMA), she has been kept away from the other women with that background. This could be an advantage to her, as it is a well-working gimmick without being grouped with the MMA Horsewomen.

Most recently, Deville received a victory over seven-time champion Flair in a tag team match. The win was mainly due to an assist from Asuka as a result of her retaliation on Flair. Deville would be a perfect choice to go up against Rousey, if she were head to WrestleMania.

The only downfall for her as champion would be her mic skills. If she were to stay with Rose throughout this journey, she could be used as a mouthpiece. If Deville is able to capture a title, then she will be the first open lesbian to become a champion in WWE. This would be a major step forward for the LGBT community.
