Flashback Match Friday: Asuka vs. Ember Moon – TakeOver Brooklyn III 2017

Ember Moon did battle with Asuka at NXT TakeOver Brooklyn III in August 2017 with the NXT Women’s Championship on the line. Asuka was still in her undefeated streak and the two fought with a lot on the line for The Empress of Tomorrow.

After a near 15-minute fight, Asuka would retain the championship. This was a time many fans felt that Moon was going to be the one to end both Asuka’s title reign and her undefeated streak as well.

Shortly after, Asuka had to vacate the championship. She broke her collarbone during this match with Moon and had to be out for six to eight weeks. Her championship reign would end at 510-days. Asuka’s undefeated streak would continue until WrestleMania 34 in 2018 to Charlotte Flair.

Moon kept on top of the division and would win the vacant title in November in a Fatal 4-way that included Peyton Royce, Nikki Cross, and Kairi Sane. Asuka would move on to the main roster after her injury, but she returned back to NXT to present Moon with the championship.
