Former Women’s Champion Contacted by WWE

Former WWE Women’s Champion Alundra Blayze aka Madusa has revealed that WWE has contacted her.

Madusa has made overtures on Twitter in the past few months that she’d like to face current Divas Champion Beth Phoenix in a match. She also revealed that she is still in possession of the old WWE Women’s Championship which she famously threw in the trash on an episode of WCW Monday Nitro.

Writing on her Facebook page, Madusa made it clear that she won’t be part of WrestleReunion in Miami during WrestleMania weekend — but added that she did receive a call from WWE.

Just want to let you all know I am NOT at the wrestle reunion in Miami or Canada.
just to set the record straight!

However…. did receive a call from WWE…… :) and thats all i am say’n!!

What the call was about is open for speculation. Madusa’s first message, explicitly stating that she won’t be part of a non-WWE event during ‘Mania weekend, seems to suggest that she may have reached some sort of deal with WWE. Could it be for a match with Phoenix? I’d consider it unlikely, but stranger things have happened in the WWE. As Trish Stratus told us last year, they approached her to do WrestleMania just a couple of weeks before the big event.

Perhaps a more likely option is that WWE has approached Madusa to do an autograph session at Fan Axxess. Or perhaps they’ve learned that she is still in possession of the old Women’s Title belt and want it back? Perhaps they plan to induct her into the WWE Hall of Fame? As past inductees have revealed, they’re usually told just before the announcement goes out i.e. Sunny last year was told on the same Monday that she was announced for the Class of 2011 on Raw.
