Gail Kim comments on upcoming retirement

On this week’s episode of GFW Impact Wrestling, Impact Wrestling Hall of Famer Gail Kim announced that she would officially be retiring from in-ring competition by the end of the year 2017.

Gail has taken to Instagram to comment on her upcoming retirement writing the following:

“I’ve had 17 AMAZING years in pro wrestling and unfortunately it’s something that can’t last forever. I’m grateful for all the ups and downs because it made me who I am today. All I ever wanted was to be the best ‘wrestler’ And the business has given me so much more. More gifts than I ever could hope for. I always said that I would retire when I couldn’t give all of me ALL of the time. That day and decision has come with some difficulty and peace at the same time but for the remainder of 2017, you better believe you will get ALL of me! I intend to #MakeMyMark and #GoOutOnTop !!!! Thanks for all the support and love after last night’s announcement. It isn’t over yet!”

Gail initially debuted for the WWE in 2003, capturing the Women’s Title in her debut match, before being released in 2004. She returned to the company in 2009 and remained with them before unofficially parting ways in 2011.

During her time with Impact Wrestling and launch of their Knockouts division, Gail became the inaugural Knockouts Champion, a title she would win on six separate occasions. She has topped PWI’s Female 50 in the year 2012 and has played a keystone to some of Impact’s most notable Knockouts feuds and matches that include Awesome Kong, Taryn Terrell, The Beautiful People, Brooke Adams and Maria Kanellis.

Outside the ring, Gail has also served as a mentor and judge during the second season of British Boot Camp. In 2016, Gail became the first woman to be inducted to the Impact Wrestling Hall of Fame.
