Gail Kim Doesn’t Rule Out Seeing Fire ‘N Flava Clash For Knockout Gold

“The Forbidden Door” is a term that describes when talent from one promotion visits another to wrestle an opponent outside of their usual home base. The women across the wrestling landscape aren’t generally as favored in this realm.

We have had IMPACT’s Deonna Purrazzo appear on AEW to defend the ROH Women’s World Title against Mercedes Martinez and Leyla Hirsch head to NWA to battle the NWA World Women’s Champion Kamille. Perhaps the biggest door opening we’ve seen for the female talent is when Mickie James shockingly walked through it when she competed in the 2022 Royal Rumble while she was Knockout’s World Champion for IMPACT.

Now, there are talks of the Forbidden Door being opened once again with AEW’s Kiera Hogan being a part of the conversation.

Hogan is now in a stable with TBS Champion Jade Cargill, and Red Velvet called “The Baddies”, but before that, she was one half of Fire ‘N Flava alongside the current Knockout’s World Champion Tasha Steelz. Hogan and Steelz won a Tag Team tournament In IMPACT to crown new Knockouts World Tag Team Champions for the revived belts back in 2021.

Recently Gail Kim spoke on an episode of the Battleground Podcast.

Kim was asked if there was any chance if the current Knockout’s Champion Boricua Badass Tasha Steelz would ever clash with Kiera Hogan. She revealed that she wants to see these two women compete against one another and doesn’t rule out the possibility of it happening in the future.

“I mean, I think it’s a definite dream of theirs,” Kim says. “You know, the success they had as a tag team. Their chemistry was undeniable. So it was kind of a bittersweet moment when Kiera moved on, and I think the fans were actually — I remember, the fans being so stunned, I mean, their faces, their mouths are just wide open, like what’s happening right now, because they were on this major momentum and, but it’s great to see, you know, sometimes things are just meant to be in terms of your path in this business. Without that happening, then Tasha would probably never be Knockouts Champion, so you never know what the future holds. I know that they’re dear friends to this day. So, who knows? We might see Kiera Hogan back and you might see that title match. That would be great.”

As mentioned above, Hogan is a part of “The Baddies” in AEW, but Steelz is currently gearing up to defend her title and make history in the first-ever Queen of the Mountain match against four other previous champions. Deonna Purrazo, Chelsea Green, Mia Yim, and Jordynne Grace with Mickie James as the Special Guest Enforcer takes place this Sunday at Slammiversary in Nashville Tennessee.

In a separate interview with Kim, she spoke exclusively to SEScoops in regards to Paige who recently announced her upcoming departure from WWE. Kim sees a possible home for Paige in IMPACT if she so wishes.

“Never say never. I love Paige, I admire everything that she’s done for women’s wrestling. She also came up kind of in that period where maybe it was so powerful — what it is now.

Women’s wrestling is probably at its best right now with main eventing. Pay-per-views, shows, it’s not an irregular thing for that to happen. So you know, Paige was part of that process.

I have nothing but respect for her in and outside of the ring. And hey, if she wants to come over to IMPACT Wrestling I feel like the door is open. So, come on over, Paige!”
