Going Halloween Costume Shopping: NXT Divas

Happy Halloween! We’re celebrating our seventh anniversary of dreaming up Halloween costumes for the Divas and Knockouts. This year we’ll be splitting up the women into three categories: NXT, TNA and WWE.

But before you see this year’s picks, be sure to catch up on the past six years of this feature:

First up, we have the NXT Divas:

Alexa Bliss as Elsa from Frozen

Yes, she’d be wearing the same costume as every girl at your local elementary school, but we can’t resist drawing the connection between NXT’s favorite blue-haired, pixie dust-wielding Diva and the Disney Queen with the ice powers. Just please, no one sing “Let it Go”. We’ve had more than enough of that.

Bayley as Louise Belcher from Bob’s Burgers

Bayley doesn’t have a sinister bone in her body, but we still love the idea of her emulating the demented girl with the bunny ears on Bob’s Burgers. Seeing Bayley try to give an evil laugh or hatch a convoluted plan against her fellow Divas would be priceless. We’ve got to admit, though: she’s probably more of a Tina.

Becky Lynch as Mystique from X-Men: Days of Future Past

Becky is only a recent convert to a dark side, but she certainly has done her fair share of shape-shifting. Within a matter of months she’s gone from a lovable Irish step dancing babyface to a balls-to-the-wall punk babyface to, finally, a Bayley bully alongside Sasha Banks. She hasn’t yet reached the level of Mystique’s side-switching and double-crossing, but this redhead probably has the best chance of any Diva to follow in her footsteps.

Carmella as Teresa Giudice from Real Housewives of New Jersey

We haven’t seen too much of the “Princess of Staten Island” just yet, but she’s already entertaining us with her sharp attitude and killer submission finisher. To further solidify her character, we suggest she emulate Real Housewives of New Jersey‘s Teresa Giudice. You know, the one sentenced to prison for bank, mail, wire and bankruptcy fraud. Let’s just hope Carmella keeps her misdeeds confined to the squared circle.

Charlotte as Taylor Swift

Both statuesque blonde women, both at the top of their respective games. Charlotte has been dominating as NXT Women’s Champion since May, while Taylor Swift’s new album 1989 has helped her reinvent herself as a pop superstar. Charlotte has a few hits under her belt, too: they’re called NXT Takeover and NXT Takeover 2. We suggest she take on a memorable Taylor look – maybe her infamous romper from the VMAs?

Devin Taylor as April O’Neil from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Megan Fox already played her in this year’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but we’re thinking Devin could do her one better, as she has experience asking the “tough questions” as NXT’s backstage interviewer. She could emulate the April from the original animated series, who was a news reporter with a penchant for yellow jumpsuits. Maybe she could even ask AJ Lee or Eve Torres to tag along with her.

JoJo as Ariana Grande

JoJo has only recently reemerged on television, being rescued from her post-Total Divas obscurity to become NXT’s new ring announcer. Lest we forget her singing prowess, JoJo should dress up as pop’s newest vocal powerhouse: Ariana Grande. The young Diva could emulate the…other young Diva by wearing her signature ponytail and quasi-Lolita look. Most importantly, though, do not take photos of the right side of her face.

Sasha Banks as Iggy Azalea

How fitting would it be for the cousin of Snoop Dogg to dress up as a rising rap star? Iggy has her fair share of detractors, but she hasn’t let that stop her. The same could be said for she of the “Sasha’s ratchet!” chants. Maybe a good freestyle would give Sasha the chance to bite back at those chanters. A t-shirt can only go so far.

Which of these costumes is your favorite? What are your ideas?
