When Kaitlyn defeated Eve Torres at the 20th Anniversary of Monday Night Raw, it was immediately clear the feud that Diva fans worldwide wanted to see: Kaitlyn vs. AJ Lee. 2012 was the year of AJ Lee, from main eventing Raw, to becoming Raw General Manager and everything in between. Yet, there was one thing AJ had yet to do: become Divas Champion. Lee would become #1 contender by winning a Battle Royal on the April 22nd edition of Raw.
It was finally time for the championship match that Diva fans had been dying to see. After weeks of antics, including a twisted plot to humiliate her former best friend, AJ finally got her championship title shot at WWE Payback on June 16th. After a hard-hitting battle, AJ locked Kaitlyn in her patented Black Widow submission for the second time in the match, forcing her former BFF to submit and realizing her childhood dream of being WWE Divas Champion.
AJ Lee may be the most recent Divas Champion, but one thing is for sure: she’s already established that she belongs with the rest of the legendary women to hold the butterfly belt.
