Happy Thanksgiving! What Are You Thankful for in Women’s Wrestling?

To all of our visitors, Team DD would like to extend a Happy Thanksgiving to everyone who is celebrating!

Have a fabulous one!

In honor of this great tradition, we want to know what you are thankful for in women’s wrestling in 2012. Leave us a comment, tweet us or post on our Facebook page.

Here’s what Team DD is thankful for…

Adrian: Personally, this year I feel like I’ve made more progress in my personal goals then ever before, and getting the chance to write about what I love for such a great website like Diva Dirt has really been the icing on the cake. I’d like to thank Melanie for giving me this opportunity, and the rest of the Diva Dirt team for their vital roles in keeping this site going – I’m looking forward to getting to know you all better in the coming weeks and months! I’d also like to thank all of the extraordinarily talented and strong female wrestlers out there who contribute to this totally unique, bizarre but brilliant art form that we all love so dearly and defend with all our hearts to the naysayers – it’s an honour to document what you women do for our entertainment. Finally, I’d like to thank all my friends who still think that what I write about involves mud and oil – glad to see that hasn’t gotten old yet…

Cryssi: I’m not entirely sure what I’m thankful for this year. It seems like it’s been very up and down. What’s different this year is that there has been effort. The landscape of the WWE Divas is slowly changing, and for the better. For the first time every woman is unique, diverse, and has her own personality. They are getting a chance to build storylines, have different roles, and for that I am thankful. I truly hope this next year the progression can continue, especially with the talent they have already there and in FCW. These are talented women capable of so much. I’m also glad that we still have the alternatives and that they’re getting better and better. The ladies that bust their butts on the indys are finally getting the respect they deserve, and have so many different ways of shining now. When it comes to Diva Dirt, I’m just glad that we’re still up and running. We may be the pioneers of women wrestling websites, but it’s the entire community of fans, writers, and wrestlers that make it work. Believe it or not, we are all working together and having gotten a chance to be so involved in something that was a staple of my childhood is something I will remember for the rest of my life.

Jack: I’m stopping and reflecting this year on the awesome future that we will all be a part of and that we well all be thankful for. Well, that’s if we survive the Rapture in December. The future is bright, and no, it’s not orange. The future is PAIGE. The former Britani Knight has rapidly became my favourite Diva and I don’t think I’ve ever thought I’d see future wife potential in someone who I think could beat me up! From her look to her finisher, Paige is the next big thing in my eyes, and she made the blow of losing fellow raven haired lady Maxine that little bit less painful. I’m thankful for Saraya and Ricky creating such a legend, I’m thankful for William Regal’s awesome nicknames for her and I’m thankful that Hell in Boots herself is in the WWE.

Katelyn: We don’t celebrate Thanksgiving in Australia but it sure sounds like a great holiday to me. Of course, I am thankful for the people that put their bodies on the line to give us all something to write about. This year in particular has been very exciting for women’s wrestling. I am also thankful for the opportunity Melanie gave me to become a writer for Diva Dirt, and all the things that have come from it. I have gotten to know some amazing people (and even got to meet two of the team earlier this year in the United States!), had the chance to develop my writing skills and have even gotten to interact with some of the wrestlers themselves. This past year has been a blast getting to know everyone and getting my work done and I hope to do the same the next year!

Melanie: There’s a lot to be thankful for this year for me both professionally and personally, so thumbs up, 2012! It’s been another good year and I just want to say a big thank you to all of you, the readers, for supporting us. We’re all thankful to you. I’m also thankful for some growth in WWE’s Divas division this year, which, despite losing some big names, seems to be bouncing back with some more focus on storylines and giving different women an opportunity. The year’s success story, AJ Lee, shows that strong female characters in WWE haven’t gone the way of the dodo. I’m also excited to see girls like Tamina and Kaitlyn get an opportunity to step up. Hopefully this time next year I can say the same about a certain Naomi. (Get her away from Brodus and in some matches, please!) I’m also thankful for some strong Knockouts action this year thanks in no small part to the likes of Tara, Gail Kim and Brooke Tessmacher. The Tara-Brooke feud remains a highlight of the year for me. Independent-wise, SHINE and Pro-Wrestling: EVE, to me, have stood out head and shoulders above the rest and I think we can all be thankful for the alternatives that the independent scene has provided us this year. Happy Thanksgiving!

Steven: First of all, I’m thankful for my friends and family. I’m thankful for all the wrestlers who put their bodies on the line regularly to entertain us. I’m thankful for all the opportunities I’ve given with Diva Dirt. From countless interviews with some of my favorite wrestlers, to being a backstage interviewer. It has been a blast to say the least. Last, but not least, I’m thankful for my Diva Dirt family, both old and new. Not only are you my colleagues and partners in crime, but you’re my friends.

What are you thankful for? Tell us in the comments!

Happy Thanksgiving!
