Hikaru Shida is celebrating 14 years as a professional wrestler.
The former AEW Women’s World Champion tweeted on August 23 that she is celebrating her fourteenth anniversary of entering the industry. To make the occasion even more eventful, Shida competed against longtime rival Emi Sakura in a match taped for the August 29 edition of AEW Dark: Elevation.
Hikaru Shida has been one of the fixtures of AEW’s women’s division since the company’s inception in 2019. She has competed in 79 matches and reigned as AEW Women’s World Champion for just over a year during the pandemic.
Shida will have another shot at the gold on September 4 when she becomes the only woman to compete at all four All Out pay-per-view events. She will battle Britt Baker, Toni Storm, and Jamie Hayter to crown an interim AEW Women’s World Champion in the wake of Thunder Rosa’s injury.
Congratulations to Hikaru Shida on all that she has accomplished during her time in the squared circle.
