This morning, All Elite Wrestling announced on their Twitter account, that Hikaru Shida is their newest female signee.
The Japanese standout is currently the OZ Academy Openweight Champion. Since her pro wrestling debut in 2008, she has wrestled for Shimmer, AAA, and DDT.
Along with being signed to AEW, she is also signed with the Makai Project. The Makai Project presents performances combining music, theater and wrestling, and hold shows in Japan. Shida has been working for them since 2017.
Shida commented on her blog about signing with AEW and how she will split her time between the two companies.
“We signed an affiliation contract with the new American organization AEW, and as of today, we became part of the two organizations, the MAKAI Project and the AEW. As future activity, from November, we will relocate to the United States and work. I will continue to appear in the magical world as Tsuruhime.
“I will return to Japan once a month according to the schedule of the demon world. However, we are not planning to engage in professional wrestling against other groups. I am a little lonely, but I will fight in Japan until November, and will do my best in the world after that! If you ask everyone, I would like you to go to the venue.”
All Elite Wrestling has been signing some amazing talent to their women’s division. Shida now joins, Britt Baker, Kylie Rae, Allie, Nyla Rose, Bea Priestly and Penelope Ford.
