One week removed from the “Book The Women’s Division Better” sign appearing on television, the AEW Women’s World Championship match headlined the 200th episode of AEW Dynamite.
In the latter half of the bout, Ruby Soho pulled Shida off the turnbuckle, allowing Storm to hit a Tornado DDT. Storm hit the running hip attack in the corner followed by another DDT for a nearfall. Storm shoved Shida around until Shida fired back with forearm shots. They traded blows before Shida landed a knee strike and Falcon Arrow for yet another nearfall.
Shida grabbed her kendo stick, but Soho got up on the apron only to be whacked.
Storm sprayed Shida while the ref was turned around throwing the stick out. She hit Storm Zero, but Shida kicked out. Shida then stacked on top of Storm for the three-count! Hikaru Shida is now a two-time AEW Women’s World Champion.
Looking forward, Anna Jay vs. Skye Blue has been announced for Friday’s Rampage. As previously announced, Kris Statlander will defend the TBS Championship against Mercedes Martinez on Collision.
