NXT TakeOver on February 14th will host an epic Triple Threat match for NXT Women’s Championship. WWE announced that Io Shirai will defend the NXT women’s title against Toni Storm and Mercedes Martinez.
Martinez made it perfectly clear that she is after NXT gold upon her surprise return to the brand last month. Martinez appeared in shocking fashion to attack and destroy the champ on the December 23rd edition of NXT.
Since then Martinez and Storm teamed up as part of the first-ever women’s Dusty Classic, but Shirai attacked Martinez and cost the duo the match.
On this week’s episode of NXT Storm took severe umbrage to the “Genius of Sky” interfering in the match and challenged her to a fight, which Shirai gladly accepted with a series of punches. Martinez enters but Storm wanted Shirai to herself, and a three-way fight took place.
Toni Storm and Mercedes Martinez now have their chance to grab NXT gold, but Shirai will not let it go without a fight.
A St Valentines massacre is definitely on the cards.
