IMPACT! Wrestling kick-off 2022 with a bang with their first PPV of the year Hard to Kill. The card promises to be a great show with two awesome women’s matches to look forward to.
There was originally a Knockouts World Tag Team Title Match scheduled between the champions The IInspiration and The Influence. However, yesterday, The IInspiration confirmed they were exposed to COVID-19 and therefore the match has been pulled.
For the first time ever six women meet in a Knockouts Ultimate X Match and the Knockouts Championship is up for grabs in a Texas Death Match.
Knockouts Ultimate X Match
The promotion announced a history-making match in November last year at Turning Point. Since then the participants Chelsea Green, Rosemary, Jordynne Grace, Alisha, Tasha Steelz, and Lady Frost were announced and will clash in a Knockouts Ultimate X match with the winner becoming the number one contender for the Knockouts World Championship.
The six women met in a Knockouts Tag Team match on the recent edition of IMPACT! It was a chaotic affair and one that saw Alisha replace Rachael Ellering for the first time ever encounter at the PPV.
Mickie James vs Deonna Purrazzo in a Texas Death Match for the IMPACT Knockouts World Championship
Mickie James became a four-time Knockouts Champion when she dethroned Purrazzo at Bound for Glory ending her 343-day reign in the process.
The championship change did nothing to quell the animosity between the two and the Virtuoso attacked James after her title match against Mercedes Martinez at Turning Point. After the beatdown, Purrazzo declared she was invoking her rematch at tonight’s PPV.
James and Purrazzo would continue to get physical leading to the two enemies settling their differences in Texas Death Match. The two had to have their no-contact clause reinstated to keep them from becoming physical until tonight’s match.
Predictions:
John:
Knockouts Ultimate X Match: The outing boasts an excellent array of talent for the first match of its kind. All six women have been on decent runs as of late therefore the winner could potentially be anyone involved. Chelsea Green and Jordynne Grace are both making waves within the company but Lady Frost is a name who came in with a lot of buzz and IMPACT! would be wise to capitalize on it and give her the win and become the next challenger for the Knockouts Championship.
Knockouts Championship: Mickie James and Deonna Purrazzo have put on a great feud and I am really looking forward to their match especially with the Texas Death Match stipulation attached.
Originally I was going with the Virtuosa as the victor, but WWE announced Mickie James as a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble, and having the Knockouts Champion on WWE television would be amazing to see. Therefore, Hardcore Country will prevail in a brutal and brilliant outing.
Nick:
Knockouts Ultimate X Match:
There really are a lot of choices here and a win here could propel anyone’s career at this point. If Mickie is still Knockouts Champion, her finally facing Chelsea Green in the proposed “Mickie/Trish Stratus” revival storyline could be fantastic. Capitalizing off of Lady Frost’s debut would also be great. Tasha Steelz breaking away as a singles competitor could make this her time to go right after the Knockouts Title.
However, I am going to give this win to Rosemary. It is past due time for her to get her hands on the Knockouts Title once again.
Knockouts Championship:
Whew! This is a wild one. And not as predictable as once thought. There are so many variables with the ROH Women’s Champion Rok-C receiving an upcoming All Winner Match and now with Mickie James being announced as the Knockouts Champion on WWE TV and appearing in the Royal Rumble has my mind all over the place on this one.
With the most recent news being the biggest of them all, I will go with Mickie James retaining her title in this one.
