If you noticed the great staredown between Beth Phoenix and Tamina on SmackDown last night, you’ll have seen that the Divas Champion had a smirk on her face as Tamina rushed to the ring to save Alicia Fox from a post-match beatdown.
But why was she smiling? Well, that’s because the Glamazon, who claims she has beaten everyone in the Divas division, is “looking forward” to finally getting some competition.
Speaking to WWE’s Backstage Fallout online show following SmackDown, Beth said: “Today is a special day. Tamina came to the ring and stepped up. She finally gave the Glamazon some competition.”
“I’ve been so bored around here lately. I’m thrilled. This is the best day of my life.”
In the clip, Beth also addresses Tamina’s legendary heritage (her father is WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy ‘Superfly’ Snuka) and says that she worked her way into the WWE and made herself Divas Champion, unlike Tamina, who she insinuates was handed her spot because of her family lineage.

Thoughts: A strong promo from Beth which matches Tamina’s strong promo earlier this week. I’m getting excited about this eventual match-up and hope that WWE continues to amp things up next week. I like the idea that Beth believes Tamina had her spot on the roster handed to her while she worked for her spot, and I hope they continue to go that route because it makes for an interesting storyline.
