Io Shirai gets back-up against Toxic Attraction; Mei Ying is no longer?

To open this week’s NXT 2.0, the new NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose took to the ring to start her reign over the division. She came out to the ring alone which prompted her to ask where her fellow Toxic Attraction [and NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions] faction-mates were at. They were backstage in the women’s locker room taking out Zoey Stark.

As a result of the attack on Stark, Rose boasts about how well she taught Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne. She adds that Toxic Attraction now runs NXT and that there is no woman, tag team, group, or faction that will stop them.

Io Shirai made her way out to the ring and said she wanted to face Rose right then and there. Rose agreed but hit Shirai with a cheap shot after calling for a referee. Despite a match never taking place, Rose tossed Shirai to the outside and drove her into the announce desk and ring post.

Once back in the ring, Shirai started fighting back and as she went for a moonsault, the rest of Toxic Attraction got involved. The numbers game became too much for Shirai and with Stark already taken out, she had no one to help her. Or did she?

Kayden Carter and Kacy Catanzaro appeared to even the odds. A six-woman tag team match is now scheduled for next week. Toxic Attraction will take on Shirai, Catanzaro, and Carter.

In a backstage moment, Toxic Attraction is seen walking by Dakota Kai. Kai explains that while she did assist Rose in winning the NXT Women’s Championship, it was only to end Raquel Gonzalez.

The only women’s match of the week was the return of Kai as she faced Cora Jade. Jade had strung together a couple of wins recently, but Kai being back has ended that. In a short exchange, Kai delivered a hard kick to Jade’s face getting the pin. This was Kai’s first match since August where she lost in a title match against then-champion Gonzalez.

Post-match, Kai went to deliver more pain to Jade by the use of a table, but she had a change of heart and decided against it.

Lash Legend was joined by Tony D’Angelo on another episode of ‘Lashing out with Lash Legend.’

Tian Sha had a backstage vignette prior Boa’s match this week. Mei Ying was present during the vignette in her chair. Boa went out to his match alone and defeated Grayson Waller.

After the match, a second vignette aired which showed the chair of Mei Ying empty. Boa knelt down to the chair and as he turned around he had his face painted as Ying’s and he blew smoke to end the segment.

After this aired, Karen Q who has been working as the Mei Ying character posted on Twitter a photo of herself with the caption “fin.” The post has since been deleted. It appears we will have to wait and see what is in store for the Mei Ying character. If it continues?

Lastly, for the second week in a row, Kay Lee Ray has had a vignette air. She has been focusing on being underutilized since NXT 2.0 kicked off and since coming over from NXT UK. She will “start to rage” next week.
