Jade Cargill Defeats Taya Valkyrie; Owen Hart Cup Returning This Summer

This week’s AEW Dynamite featured a big TBS Championship match as Jade Cargill put her title and undefeated streak on the line against Taya Valkyrie. The bout had an added caveat that if Valkyrie used her Road to Valhalla finisher, she would be disqualified.

The two powerhouses started with a lock up to test their strength before slapping each other. After the break, Valkyrie managed to hit a Blue Thunderbomb for a nearfall. Cargill then took Valkyrie up to the top rope for a superplex. Cargill hit a Canadian Destroyer out of nowhere, but Taya kicked out.

Taya powered out of Jaded with an arm drag and then attempted Road to Valhalla, but Aubrey Edwards reminded her that she’s banned for using it. Cargill then rolled Valkyrie up for a three-count after eight minutes.

Following the bout, Valkyrie attempted Road to Valhalla on Edwards before other referees intervened. Cargill’s undefeated streak now extends to 56-0.

Additionally, a battered Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter appeared in a backstage segment to officially declare war on The Outcasts. Hayter noted that the only way this will end is if they “send them to the bloody morgue.”

The Outcasts did not appear on Dynamite, however they are slated to appear in some form on Friday’s Rampage.

Additionally, Tony Khan has announced the Owen Hart Cup tournament will return this summer. The “master of ceremonies” will happen at Double or Nothing, while matches will take place throughout the company’s tour of Canada. Some matches will happen at Forbidden Door and the finals will take place in Calgary on Saturday, July 15.
