It was an eventful night for the women of AEW.
First, The Bunny confronted Jamie Hayter in a backstage interview with Renee Paquette. After watching Hayter’s eliminator match against Emi Sakura last week, Bunny now wants one of her own on next week’s Dynamite. The interview ended prematurely as footage on the screen behind them showed Saraya and Toni Storm beating down Britt Baker elsewhere in the arena.
While Baker was later checked out by a doctor, Ruby Soho interrupted to check on “The Pillar.” Hayter and Baker were apprehensive about Soho suddenly checking in, but Soho assured them that Saraya and Storm are not “her girls.”
In the featured match of the night, Red Velvet was attempting to become the one in Jade Cargill’s 49-1. Meanwhile Cargill was trying to become 50-0. The match was mostly in Cargill’s favor although Velvet did get in some good offense. In fact, if it wasn’t for the referee being distracted, Velvet may just very well be the new TBS champion.
Kiera Hogan ran down to the ring and threw Leila Grey into the steel steps. As Hogan was arguing with the ref and other officials, Velvet had Cargill pinned for way more than a three count. Cargill would eventually land Jaded for the win. She celebrated with her daughter to end the segment.
Looking ahead, Saraya will make her Rampage debut this Friday when she and Storm compete in tag team action, but their opponents are unknown at this time. It’s also been confirmed that Hayter vs. Bunny will go down on the February 8 episode of Dynamite.
