Ever since Jade Cargill walked into AEW and unleashed a verbal assault on Cody Rhodes in November she has captivated AEW fans. Since then everyone has been waiting to see what Cargill is all about and how she would hold up in the ring. Putting her money where her mouth is, she did just that tonight.
Alongside Shaq, Cargill picked up a huge win in her debut match against Cody and Red Velvet. Velvet is certainly no easy opponent either as she has been on a winning streak ironically since November when Cargill walked through the doors. This match opened the show tonight.
Cargill showed what she can do in the ring and she certainly is one to watch out for. After the men tagged out to start the match, Cargill got the first hit in on Velvet and that’s all that was needed for the both to go back and forth. She showed off her power and athleticism also by even taunting her opponent. As the action was spilt on the outside Velvet delivered a massive moonsault and took out the field.
Later in the match, Cargill sets up a table on the outside. Velvet would then set up a second. This would end up being the downfall for Cargill’s partner as Cody sent Shaq through both tables. This took out both men.
Velvet was then poised to end Cargill and get the win as she executes a spear. But it wasn’t enough and Cargill kicked out. After a beautiful Glam Slam as she showed off and flexed her muscles, Cargill gets the pin. Both women had an great showing and were given most of the match to show how good they are.
Also on tonight’s Dynamite was the final match in the AEW Women’s World Title Eliminator Tournament. The winner set to face Hikaru Shida for the title this Sunday at Revolution. Nyla Rose won the United States brackets by last defeating Thunder Rosa whereas Ryo Mizunami won the Japanese brackets by last defeating Yuka Sakazaki. The two squared off tonight and Mizunami picked up a big victory.
Mizunami picks up the win after a guillotine leg drop off the top rope. After the match, Shida presented the trophy to the winner. Mizunami didn’t want to wait until Sunday and after receiving the trophy she shook the hand of the champion and then struck her. The two went back and forth with blows hyping up what will happen this Sunday.
A second women’s match was announced for Revolution this weekend and is placed on the Buy In preshow. It will be a tag team match between Thunder Rosa & Riho taking on Britt Baker & Reba.
