Jade Cargill Puts The Hammer Down On Athena On AEW Rampage

Athena was victorious on AEW Rampage, but it came with a price.

The self-proclaimed Fallen Goddess was featured on the August 19 edition of AEW Rampage where she was victorious over a returning Penelope Ford in a fun singles match. Unfortunately for Athena, her celebration was cut short.

Kiera Hogan and Leila Grey immediately rushed the ring and scrapped with Athena until TBS Champion Jade Cargill made her way out with a sledgehammer in hand. Cargill crushed Athena’s wings on the stage before striking Athena in the midsection. The champ then naturally posed with the title over her fallen rival.

As the road continues to AEW All Out, it’s becoming clearer by the week that Athena will be Cargill’s next challenger.

Speaking of All Out, Britt Baker appeared in a backstage interview where she commented on being left out of the AEW Women’s World Championship match, which currently pits Thunder Rosa against Toni Storm. The not-so-good doctor bashed both women before it was announced that she will take on KiLynn King on Wednesday’s Dynamite.

Needless to say, DMD shouldn’t be counted out of All Out just yet.

And in the main event, Sonny Kiss was quite active at ringside in trying to secure the Trustbusters a spot in the semifinals of the AEW World Trios Championship tournament. Unfortunately, those plans did not work out as Orange Cassidy scored the win on behalf of Best Friends.

What did you think of this week’s Rampage? How do you feel about Britt Baker possibly being inserted in the title picture again? Sound off below!
