Jade Cargill Upsets Athena’s Dynamite Debut; AEW Women’s Title Match Set For July 27

Jade Cargill continues to stay victorious even in tag team action.

AEW’s TBS Champion and Kiera Hogan were originally booked to team with Leila Grey against Athena, Kris Statlander, and Willow Nightingale on the July 20 edition of AEW Dynamite. However, AEW announced prior to the show that Grey was not cleared to compete, thus she and Statlander were pulled from the bout.

The standard tag match marked Athena’s official Dynamite in-ring debut after being with the company since Double or Nothing in May. Cargill avoided tagging in during the first portion of the match, but when she did, the champ finally clashed with the Fallen Goddess.

Jade and Athena provided just a taste of what they could do against each other, but as things broke down, Jade pinned Nightingale.

Right after, ThunderStorm appeared backstage for an interview. It was announced that Thunder Rosa will defend her AEW Women’s World Championship against Miyu Yamashita on next week’s Fight For The Fallen edition of Dynamite.

ThunderStorm’s segment was interrupted by Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter for a second week in a row as Baker announced she and Hayter will compete in tag action this Friday on Rampage. Their opponents are unknown as of this writing.

Lastly, TayJay is back together. During the Barbed Wire Everything Death match main event, Anna Jay solidified her heel turn when she helped Tay Conti beat down Ruby Soho at ringside.

Are you excited about the TayJay reunion? Do you think Thunder Rosa will retain next week? When will Athena go one-on-one with Jade Cargill? Sound off in the comments below!
