Jade Cargill vs. Anna Jay set for Rampage; Serena Deeb continues to dominate on Dynamite

Jade Cargill is set to have her first title defense since winning the TBS Championship at the beginning of the year. She issued an open challenge to which Anna Jay responded and the two confirmed their upcoming match in a backstage segment. Anna is currently the second-ranked woman on the AEW women’s rankings of the new year. The match will take place this Friday, Jan. 21 on Rampage.

On this week’s AEW Dynamite two matches involving the women took place.

The results were as follows –

Britt Baker & Adam Cole defeated Kris Statlander & Orange Cassidy

Serena Deeb defeated Skye Blue

In the first match of the night, Baker and Cole took the victory in a very competitive match between both teams. As the match progresses to its finish, Statlander goes up top to hit an Area 451. Cole overs Baker to try and protect her but Statlander hits the move on the both of them anyway. She then tags in Cassidy.

Cassidy hits Beach Break which Cole kicks out of. Statlander saves Cassidy from the Panama Sunrise and Cole looked to hit it on Statlander before Baker gets involved. After a kick from Baker on the ramp, she hits the Pittsburgh Sunrise to Statlander on the ramp. Cole hits the Panama Sunrise to Cassidy in the ring but he kicks out at two. Baker and Cole then set up a table next to the ring.

As Cassidy went to go after Cole, he ducks out of the way and Cassidy hits Baker off the ring apron who goes crashing through the table. Cole then pins Cassidy for the win.

Serena Deeb faced Skye Blue and showed why she is named the woman of a thousand holds. Blue was able to get one nice hit in but it was predominantly Deeb dominating the match.

After hitting a swinging neck breaker, Deeb put her opponent away with the Serenity Lock for the submission victory.

In a backstage segment, Statlander along with Red Velvet were backstage to talk about the mixed tag team match earlier in the night. Leyla Hirsch appeared who was the tag team partner of Statlander and Red on last week’s loss on Rampage.

A “miscommunication” between Statlander and Hirsch was the downfall of their team as there have been issues between the two as of late. Red tried to convince Hirsch that it was a miscommunication but Hirsch was angry that she always chooses the side of Statlander. Hirsch attacks Red from behind and then targets Statlander to end the segment.

On next week’s Dynamite, Hirsch will be facing Red one-on-one.
