It was confirmed on the Jan. 27 episode of AEW Rampage that Jade Cargill will put the TBS Championship on the line against Red Velvet. Cargill is currently 49-0 and Velvet is looking to make that 49-1 by not only defeating her former Baddies leader but becoming the new champ. The match will take place on the Feb. 1 episode of Dynamite.
In a backstage segment on Rampage, Cargill along with Leila Grey was asked who her next opponent would be for her 50th. Cargill said it doesn’t really matter before she was confronted by two Baddie members she booted, Velvet and Kiera Hogan. After saying that Grey has no self-esteem, Velvet said she may have been Cargill’s first but she will be the one in 49-1.
Also on Rampage, there was a backstage interview shown from Dynamite after Ruby Soho defeated Toni Storm. Soho won after a distraction from Britt Baker took Storm’s eye off of the match. Baker was supposed to be in the match as part of a Three Way but was said to not be cleared to compete. Baker shares with Soho that there is a clear division happening in the women’s division and she encourages Soho to decide which side she is on.
The women’s match from the Jan. 27 Rampage was the AEW Women’s World Champion Jamie Hayter taking on Emi Sakura in an Eliminator Match. If Sakura won she would receive a future title shot. The match took its rightful place in the main event.
In a fantastic match where Sakura took Hayter to her limits, the champion would pull out the win. Hayter hit the lariat into the ripcord for Hayterade. This was only after Sakura had countered it right before. A must watch.
