NXT’s Jaida Parker is gearing up for a championship match for the NXT Women’s Championship on March 25 against Stephanie Vaquer. This upcoming match is Parker’s second shot at the top gold after facing then-champion Roxanne Perez last year at No Mercy.
As a former soccer player at LSU (Louisiana State University), Parker comes from a college sports background and is a homegrown talent. She spoke in a recent interview for the No-Contest Wrestling Podcast where she commented on tennis legend Serena Williams.
“Legend. A legend. I’ve looked up to her since high school, since when I can remember. From seeing her do her little crip walk at the [Super Bowl] to her little tennis matches, you know what I’m saying, to her being a role model for her daughters and her children. She is a definition of a true role model besides Bayley. She is so inspirational to me that I wouldn’t know where I would be if I didn’t decide to adapt my mindset to the way her mindset was. She pushes me, even though she don’t even know me. I know her and she’s an inspiration to me.” (Fightful – transcript)
Parker was on this week’s NXT, taking out Jordynne Grace, and setting herself up with the championship match next week.
