After debuting to high ratings, Total Divas has gotten the entire wrestling world talking.
WWE Hall of Famer Jim “JR” Ross was among the 1.3 million people who tuned in to see the Divas stir up some drama on the July 28th debut episode.
Ross recently posted to his blog and addressed the new hit show.
He wrote:
“My wife and I enjoyed the premiere episode of Total Divas on the E Network Sunday night. I had a few ‘flashbacks’ from my talent relations days watching the ladies interact with each other and the WWE folks in general. When I became head of talent relations, we had only one or two women on the roster. That aspect of the team grew quickly and the Diva locker room soon became a complex and unique entity. That’s not to say that the men didn’t have their share of problems, too, but the ladies presented an entirely different ballgame.
“In the days before cell phones, texting, etc, my home phone rang at all hours of the night and quite often it was a Diva with an issue as the ladies usually wanted to vent right away while the guys would often times ‘stew’ over what was bothering them.”
As Ross mentioned, he was Head of Talent Relations at a time when Divas like Sable, Debra and Chyna reigned supreme.
He’s also responsible for bringing in iconic talent like Diva Dirt Legacy Award recipient Trish Stratus and Lita.
We can’t help but wonder if any of them are among the “Divas with an issue” he described?
