John Cena and Daniel Bryan Talk ‘Total Divas’, How They Got Involved With the Reality Show

After yesterday’s SummerSlam press conference, E! caught up with the two men headlining the Pay-Per-View: John Cena and Daniel Bryan.

The Superstars, of course, also appear on television sets every Sunday night on Total Divas with girlfriends Brie and Nikki Bella. E!, the network behind the show, asked the men about how they got involved with the show.

WWE Champion Cena said he agreed to be on Total Divas to support girlfriend Nikki, revealing, “I’m a big part of her life. When the show came around I was initially reserved about being on it but I believe in Nicole. She has tremendous ambition, work ethic and drive. I want to make her experience complete as it could be.”

As for Daniel Bryan, he just couldn’t say “NO! NO! NO!”, sharing, “I had no choice. Brie Bella is the boss of me. So she’s on Total Divas; hence, I’m on Total Divas.”

E! surmised that, in dating sisters, Daniel and John are practically family at this point. John compared fighting Bryan this Sunday to competing with his real brothers, saying, “I come from a household of four brothers. There are five of us gentleman that constantly compete at everything, from football to beer drinking. It’s like that. Both of us would like to parade around as king of the mountain.”

Daniel, meanwhile, opts to stress the differences between them, connecting it to the differences between Brie and Nikki, saying, “The differences between Brie and Nicole are huge and, likewise, the differences between me and John are even bigger. You can see that on the show. He lives a very certain lifestyle, I live something completely different.”

We doubt Total Divas will factor into the SummerSlam main event, but we’re sure the backstage drama will make its way onto the show’s six extra episodes.
