It appears that Kairi Sane and WWE have parted ways. Sane recently removed WWE from her social media channels and refers to herself as a former WWE Superstar in her bio.
Now a report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter states WWE wanted to renew her contract and have her come back to America and wrestle, however, Sane rejected the deal.
“Kairi Sane’s contract has expired. WWE wanted to renew her deal and have her return and wrestle, but she didn’t want to live in the U.S. And with COVID, the travel back-and-forth isn’t going to work right now.”
The former WWE women’s tag team champion left the company in 2020 to return home to Japan to work as a WWE ambassador.
Kairi Sane signed for WWE in 2017 after a highly successful run in STARDOM. She debuted in NXT where she defeated Shayna Baszler for the NXT Women’s Championship.
She went on to have a successful run as the Kabuki Warriors on the main roster where she became women’s tag team champion with Asuka.
