In an absolute stellar match to open up NXT 2.0 this week, Kay Lee Ray defeated Dakota Kai in a ladder match to grab ahold of the advantage for her team at WarGames. WarGames takes place this Sunday.
Prior to the bell ringing on the ladder match, all eight women brawled at the stage entrance to kick off the show. KLR and Kai broke away to have their match after KLR was the first to be thrown face-first on a ladder that was on the ramp. The moment the bell rings, KLR provides a firm kick to the face of Kai which causes her to roll out of the ring. KLR hits a fantastic high-risk maneuver from the top turnbuckle to take out Kai on the outside.
The fight culminated between the two when Kai went climbing up the ladder to grab the advantage hanging over the ring. KLR pulled her down which caused Kai to get hung up feet first on the ladder. After another kick to the face of Kai caused her to fall off the ladder completely, KLR climbed up the other side of the ladder to secure her team the advantage at WarGames.
KLR’s team of Io Shirai, Raquel Gonzalez, and Cora Jade were celebrating in the back while Toxic Attraction looked on in disappointment.
The second women’s match of the night was a tag team match that involved Indi Hartwell & Persia Pirotta taking on Yulisa Leon & Valentina Feroz. Prior to the match, Hartwell received a worrisome call backstage as she and Pirotta were warming up for their match. The call woke up Wendy Choo (formerly Mei Ying/Karen Q) who was sleeping on the couch.
The phone call was from the hospital where Hartwell’s husband Dexter Lumis is from his attack two weeks ago. The call stated that Lumis was “gone” which worried Hartwell and showed her in a daze to start the match. Despite Hartwell’s lack of focus, she and Pirotta were able to pick up the win. Pirotta pinned Leon.
A new vignette for Tiffany Stratton aired showing her on a shopping spree and stating ‘coming soon.’ Stratton had her first match in WWE on 205 Live against Amari Miller a couple of weeks ago. She picked up the win.
Elektra Lopez continues to have her eyes set firmly on Xyon Quinn and the sexual tension is overflowing. She has tried to convince Quinn to join Legado Del Fantasma but to no avail. She wished Quinn “good luck” in his match against Santos Escobar next week.
Lastly, there was an appearance by Tesha Price who was in a segment involving Joe Gacy.
