A new tag team formed, the Knockouts main-evented, and Deonna Purrazzo helped Mickie James. Here’s what you missed on this week’s IMPACT Wrestling.
Early on in the night, Jordynne Grace took on the debuting Alex Gracia. The pink-haired newcomer got a few spots in, but this was definitely a showcase for Grace as she continues to pursue the Knockouts title once again. Jordynne won with the Grace Driver.
Killer Kelly made an unexpected appearance in the ring to call out Taylor Wilde. Wilde came out and offered Kelly the chance to see her fate, but Kelly wanted to choose her own destiny. Wilde drew “The Tower” card, which spelled doom for Kelly. As a result, KiLynn King officially debuted and attacked Kelly from behind before joining hands with Wilde.
Backstage, Death Dollz offered to help Kelly, but she didn’t seem interested. Once Kelly exited, Wilde and King, now known as The Coven, approached the champs. Wilde believes Rosemary is jealous of her use of black magic. Rosemary countered with an offer: If The Coven loses a title match against Death Dollz, Wilde must give up her magic. The title match is now set for next Thursday.
In the main event, Mickie James put her Knockouts World title on the line against Gisele Shaw. It was a hard-hitting affair with James spending a lot of time fighting her way back up when Shaw kept her down. In the end, Mickie looked to have the win secured when Jai Vidal popped up on the apron. Deonna Purrazzo left commentary and took him down, but Savannah Evans entered on the other side.
While the ref attended to Evans, Shaw initially rolled Mickie up, but Purrazzo made sure James was rolled on top of Shaw for when the ref turned around. Purrazzo slid out as Mickie scored the three-count to retain.
As a result of Hardcore Country retaining, she will now be tasked with defending against Jordynne Grace in a rematch at Sacrifice on March 24.
