KiLynn King picks up her first AEW win while Nyla Rose dominates heading into Full Gear

KiLynn King has certainly become a mainstay on AEW Dark since May. She has participated mostly in singles matches but has had a few tag team matches and has even appeared twice on Dynamite. One thing has been in common from all of her appearances over the past six months and that is her losing streak. However, that has now been broken.

KiLynn King defeats Lei’d Tapa

King picks up her first win on this week’s AEW Dark as she defeats a debuting Lei’d Tapa. Not only was this Tapa’s first appearance for AEW, but it was also her first match since 2017.

As King approached her first win, she was the victim of a Samoan Drop from Tapa. Tapa went for the cover but King was able to stay alive. After delivering a crossbody, King was able to maneuver out of a Fireman’s carry and follows up with a clothesline. She grabs the victory after delivering a frog splash to get the pin.

Brandi Rhodes & Red Velvet defeats Leyla Hirsch & Elayna Black

The other match on Dark was a tag team match with Leyla Hirsch & Elayna Black facing Brandi Rhodes & Red Velvet. This match came down to Rhodes and Black. Rhodes hits a clothesline followed by a slingblade as she goes for a cover. Hirsch broke up the count and ended up with a spear from Rhodes. Rhodes hits the Shot of Brandi to Black to get the pin.

As far as Dynamite tonight, we saw Red Velvet face the number one contender, Nyla Rose.

Nyla Rose (w/Vickie Guerrero) defeats Red Velvet (w/Brandi Rhodes)

Rose is set to take on the AEW Women’s World Champion Hikaru Shida this Saturday at Full Gear. This was her first match since Oct. 13 because Guerrero stated that Rose would not get back into the ring until Shida agreed to give Rose a title shot.

Velvet may have been on the winning team on Dark but it would have certainly been a huge upset if she could have picked up a win against Rose. No surprise that Rose made quick work of Velvet after toying with her for a bit.

After Rose picked up her win, Guerrero would confront Velvet and Rhodes at ringside. She mocked Rhodes for being the CBO of AEW and Velvet still couldn’t pick up the win. She then went over to Shida who was at ringside and did everything to pick a fight. As Shida went after Guerrero, Rose went into defense mode and the two were held back from it escalating any further.

Full Gear takes place this Saturday on Nov. 7. There are two women’s matches on the card. The one that has already been mentioned above is Nyla Rose vs the AEW Women World’s Champion Hikaru Shida. Rose will be trying to become the first two-time women’s champion in AEW.

The second match was just announced which will be on the Buy-In preshow. It will have the NWA World Women’s Championship on the line as the new champion Serena Deeb will defend against the newly announced free agent, Allysin Kay.
