Kris Statlander becomes WSU World Champion as Tessa Blanchard steps down

Tessa Blanchard is no stranger to championship gold as she has held many titles throughout many promotions. She has technically been the Women Superstars United (WSU) World Champion since June 2018. WSU has just announced that their Interim WSU World Champion will now step up and be promoted.

Statlander’s reign will be made effective Oct. 18 from her victory in a tournament against Diamante from their Just A Bunch of Hocus Pocus event.

No further details on why this occurred have been disclosed at this time. WSU commented to a fan on Twitter by stating they will make an announcement soon to make clarity on this situation.

They further stated they hope for Blanchard to come back to WSU events in 2020 and this time she may be IMPACT World Heavyweight Champion. She faces Sami Callihan for this groundbreaking match at Hard to Kill on Jan. 12.

Statlander has been seen recently on AEW and she has a scheduled match this Wednesday on Dynamite against Hikaru Shida.

WSU’s next event will be on Dec. 28 and titled Year End Double Header.
