The first night of Impact Wrestling’s two-night event, Emergence kicked off last night with Kylie Rae taking on Taya Valkyrie in Wrestle House.
Wrestle House is Impact Wrestling’s bizarre new reality show that features Rosemary, Su Yung, Taya Valkyrie, Kylie Rae, among others.
Since its debut, Wrestle House has offered up some imaginative and entertaining segments as the oddball mix of residents tries to co-exist. When the characters are unable to get along they settle their differences in the Wrestle House ring.
Two such people who haven’t been able to get along is Kylie Rae and Taya Valkyrie. Kylie is the number one contender for the Knockouts Championship and Taya doesn’t think she deserves to be. Tensions reached a crescendo when Taya called Kylie a loser and that she needed to face a real champion. Kylie accepted the challenge and here we are.
Until now the Wrestle House matches haven’t been all that serious. But as Kylie attempts to prove herself as the deserving challenger, there is a lot riding on this match. To make things more difficult for Kylie, Taya’s best friend, Rosemary was the special guest referee.
The match kicked off with a series of lock-ups, which allows Kylie to take control. An early Superkick attempt is evaded by Taya. Rosemary trips up Kylie with a leg sweep, which allows Taya to lay in some offense. Taya would remain in control for the majority of the match but Kylie’s tenacity began to vex the former champion. This frustration leads to a lapse in concentration and a near clash with Rosemary. This allows Kylie to hit Taya with a Superkick for the victory.
This was an OK but fun match. Kylie’s victory proved to the former, longest-reigning champion that she fully deserves the number one contender spot.
Speaking of the Knockouts Championship. Emergence Night 2 offers up a doozy of a match. Deonna Purrazzo defends her title for the first time against Jordynne Grace in a 30 Minute Ironman Match. If this match is anything like their encounter at Slammiversary, then we are in for a treat.
