In an interview with TV Insider’s Scott Fishman, WWE Superstar, Lacey Evans, admitted that she didn’t expect to be pushed into title contention so quickly. Still, she remains humble and grounded.
“I definitely didn’t expect an opportunity of this caliber to come so quick,” Evans said during the interview. “Whenever you have an opportunity like this, you have to run hard and fast and do the best you can.”
Back in January, Evans came to the main roster as part of a class of NXT recruits, that also featured Nikki Cross. After months of teases, Evans came to blows with the RAW and Smackdown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch. She will challenge Lynch for the RAW title at Money in the Bank on May 19.
Lacey will make the title match official on this week’s episode of RAW when she takes part in the official contract signing. The segment will be a double signing for Becky Lynch, who will also defend her Smackdown title against Charlotte Flair.
Evans may be a relative newcomer to the RAW roster. But she knows that she has what it takes to become a top star on Monday nights.
“One thing I do have is grit, determination and a hell of a lot of initiative,” Evans said. “There is no way I’m going to let this opportunity slip through my hands if I have anything to do with it.”
