Lacey Evans is back.
For the first time since February 2021, Evans has made her return and she will now be on SmackDown. The last fans saw Evans she announced her real-life pregnancy on Raw before the 2021 Elimination Chamber event. She was in a feud with Charlotte Flair and was planning to face Asuka for the Raw Women’s Championship before her time off.
In what will likely be the first of several vignettes for Evans, she reintroduced herself discussing her young self growing up. Emotional, she discussed her challenging childhood which led to her growing up and learning to adapt and overcome obstacles.
She says she may not have the same straight shot to stardom that other female superstars have been blessed with, but that is what makes her different than all the rest. She is motivated and confident as she is a many with many roles and hats. In closing, Evans says it doesn’t make her better than the other superstars, but it doesn’t make them better than her.
Evans wasn’t the only new face seen on SmackDown. Raquel Rodriguez (Gonzalez) is now a member of the blue brand. More can be read here about her debut.
Other moments of this week’s SmackDown include Ronda Rousey opening the show. Coming off her loss to Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania for the SmackDown Women’s Championship, Rousey wants another shot. After exclaiming that she wants a rematch, she says she doesn’t want just a regular match.
She wants a rematch in an “I Quit Match” at WrestleMania Backlash.
Flair appears on the screen backstage and says that Rousey can’t even beat her at checkers let alone an “I Quit Match.” She says winning is in her DNA and she didn’t lose or tap out at WrestleMania. Flair gives an answer of no to the rematch and tells Rousey to get in the back of the line. Rousey says the fight is going to happen.
One half of the newly crowned Women’s Tag Team Champions, Sasha Banks, took on Raw’s Liv Morgan in the one match on this week’s show. Her partner and co-champion Naomi hopped on commentary. In a refreshing singles match between the two, Morgan pulled out a victory as she caught Banks off of a superplex. Banks perhaps thinking of going for the three amigos, lifted her legs up to be caught in a pinning situation. Morgan got the three count with Banks’ shoulders on the match to get the win.
Morgan and her tag team partner Rhea Ripley have a tag team title match on this Monday’s Raw. Ripley was not ringside for her partner’s match.
Backstage, Shayna Baszler & Natalya tried to get into the head of Morgan in a digital exclusive. Nattie says she may have won tonight but she always loses the big one. Whichever team wins on Monday’s Raw, Nattie & Baszler have next.
