Earlier today, Lana (real name CJ Perry) was one of three women (along with Ruby Riott and Santana Garrett) who were released by WWE. Her release makes a third set of cuts for in-ring talent since the week after WrestleMania in April.
Lana was being utilized on WWE television regularly in a tag team with Naomi. The pair was last seen in a match this past Monday on RAW where they lost to Mandy Rose and Dana Brooke. She has been an in-ring competitor more in the past year for WWE than she had been during her entire tenure with the company. She originally signed in 2013.
The Ravishing Russian spent a lot of time training to get better in the ring and was frequently seen with veteran Natalya honing her craft. Lana said the following below on her Twitter account.
Lana’s husband Miro, who currently works for AEW and is the TNT Champion, also commented on his wife’s release. Miro, then known as Rusev, left WWE last year.
Her tag team partner Naomi posted the following.
