Former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion Candice LeRae is currently on maternity leave after giving birth to her first child with Johnny Gargano in February. Her last match was in July where she and Indi Hartwell dropped the tag titles to Zoey Stark and Io Shirai. Her last appearance was at the on-screen wedding of Hartwell and Dexter Lumis.
According to Fightful Select, they have confirmed that LeRae’s WWE contract is set to expire “this spring,” and at this time it has not been renewed or frozen. When Fightful spoke to WWE sources they were not notified if a freeze was seven able to happen with LeRae’s current status of being out on maternity leave. It is not expected for her to be back before her contract expires with the company. An extension has not been discussed at this time.
As for her husband, Gargano’s deal with WWE expired in December, and has been taking this time to spend with his new baby. Fightful can confirm that both LeRae and Gargano are on good terms with WWE and the company would like to have them back if at all possible. It was noted that WWE hadn’t planned to be concerned with Candice and extension talks while she was on maternity leave and taking time with her newborn.
LeRae joined WWE in 2017 and prior to that has been a big name on the indie scene and has been in the wrestling business for now 20 years debuting in 2002.
